I found myself checking the door twice
Dear Delyara, I locked the door. Then checked it again. I knew it was locked. Still, I checked. I think anxiety sometimes shows itself in these tiny rituals — not as a big thought, but as repetition. The body wanting extra proof that something is safe, settled, finished. The mind not trusting one confirmation to be enough. Tonight it wasn’t really about the door. It was about wanting one thing in life to feel certain. I stood there with my hand on the handle longer than I needed to, and suddenly I felt sad. Sad not because of the lock, but because I could feel how much of me was craving reassurance in a broader way — not only safety from intrusion, but safety from unpredictability, from inner noise, from the emotional looseness of the day. The lock clicked. The uncertainty stayed.
