My Diary

I found myself hiding in the bathroom for the length of one song

Dear Delyara, Not because I needed the bathroom. Because I needed a door. I took my phone in, sat on the closed toilet seat, and played one song I haven’t listened to in years. The whole thing lasted about four minutes. Four minutes of not being looked at, asked, followed up with, or expected to answer anything practical. When the song finished, I washed my hands just to make the whole thing look legitimate in my own head, which made me laugh a little. Still, the relief was real. That’s the part that stayed. Some evenings I don’t need a new life. I need one song behind a locked door.
