My Diary

I found myself whispering in my own kitchen after everyone had gone to bed

Dear Delyara, No one was asleep close enough to hear me. There was no real reason to lower my voice. And yet I was moving quietly, shutting cupboards softly, running the tap carefully, almost as if the whole house were a nervous system I didn’t want to disturb any further. I realized then that I was not whispering for their sake. I was whispering for mine. It was the only way I knew how to make the end of the day gentler. Less force. Less sound. Less emotional friction. A quieter body making a quieter room. I think some nights we create peace through volume control because everything else feels too large to fix. That was last night.
