My Diary

I found the clean spoon in the biscuit tin

Dear Delyara, I was looking for something sweet because the evening had reached that point where I wanted comfort in the shape of sugar, and instead of biscuits I found a clean teaspoon lying in the tin like a tiny metal witness to how strange family life becomes when several tired people share a kitchen for years. I laughed immediately. Then I felt tired again. That spoon seemed to summarise the whole week: objects out of place, effort repeated, logic quietly abandoned under pressure, and me wandering through the aftermath trying to keep everyone fed, on time, and emotionally mostly intact. I ate the biscuits. I left the spoon where it was for another minute just because the absurdity deserved a little respect.
