The SilenceTrauma
I freeze in situations that look ordinary to other people
Dear Delyara, This happened today in such a stupid, ordinary way. A conversation changed tone too suddenly. Someone got sharper than the moment required. Nothing violent. Nothing dramatic. But my whole system changed anyway. I went cold and still inside. My mind narrowed. My voice became careful. I felt that old freeze response move through me before I could stop it. From the outside, I probably looked quiet. Inside, I was gone for a few seconds. That is the part people miss. Trauma is not always loud. Sometimes it is invisible disappearance.
