My Diary
I got into bed with my shoulders still up around my ears
Dear Delyara, That is how I knew the day had stayed inside me. Nothing dramatic had happened. That’s what matters. A perfectly ordinary day had still left my body behaving like it had not been safe enough to properly unclench for hours. I lay there and consciously lowered my shoulders and they rose again almost immediately, as if they no longer trusted rest without supervision. That made me feel older than I wanted to feel. And more compassionate toward myself than usual.
