I got through the day without disappearing into my phone

Dear Delyara, When I feel flat or lonely or slightly detached from myself, the phone becomes an easy place to vanish into. Not to rest. To disappear. To stay half-awake to my own life while pretending I’m taking a break from it. Usually it leaves me worse — more tired, more numb, more ashamed. Yesterday I noticed the drift starting and did something different. I put the phone away and let the discomfort stay visible for a while instead of burying it in screens. That was hard. And useful. And much more honest than what I usually do.
