I Had One Hour With No Future in It
Dear Delyara, No budgeting. No body fear. No mental rehearsal. No school calendar in my head. No trying to predict the emotional weather of tomorrow before I’d even slept through tonight. I was folding towels when I noticed it. I was just there. Hands on fabric. Lamp on. House quiet. Mind not rushing ahead. It felt so unusual I almost got nervous, like my brain had dropped something important. But it hadn’t. It had dropped urgency. For one whole hour. That hour felt luxurious in a way I can’t explain to people who still think peace means a vacation package. To me, peace is smaller and rarer. It is an hour with no future in it. I got one. I knew enough to treasure it while it was happening.
