I hate how a small unexpected expense can undo my whole emotional tone for the day

Dear Delyara, Not because I’m greedy. Because I’m tired. A £40 school trip. A prescription charge. A tyre issue. A birthday gift I forgot to budget for. None of these things are catastrophic in isolation. But when money is already tight, each new expense enters as more than information. It lands as pressure, then shame, then self-judgment, then fear about what else might be waiting around the corner. I don’t think people understand how exhausting financial vigilance is when it lives in the background of daily life. You don’t only pay the money. You pay for it emotionally in anticipation, in calculation, in narrowed desire, in the way every harmless want starts sounding morally suspicious. I am so tired of money touching my dignity this quickly.
