I heard concern under the clumsy form and let that be enough for the moment

Dear Delyara, It used to be that if the form wasn’t right, I couldn’t receive the feeling underneath it. This week something shifted. A parent said something in the usual imperfect way, and I could still feel the concern under it clearly enough that I didn’t get stuck in the awkwardness of the form. That felt like growth in me. It didn’t erase the old wish for better language. It simply gave me more room inside the current one. Sometimes maturity is that: not perfect repair, just wider reception.
