My Diary
I Heard My Name and Felt Pressure Before Love
Dear Delyara, One of the children called me, and before the love arrived, before the motherhood arrived, before the tenderness had time to take its proper place, I felt pressure. Need. Demand. One more thing. Then came the guilt, because of course it did. I answered lovingly enough. But inside, I was shaken by how quickly saturation can get to a mother before softness does. I wish more women said that plainly. It would make the shame smaller.
