The PlotFear of Failure

I keep delaying the thing until it looks like discernment

Dear Delyara, That’s one of the most dangerous disguises fear wears in me. I call it timing. Readiness. Thinking things through. Being strategic. Sometimes it is those things. Sometimes it is fear trying to sound intelligent. I delay until the delay looks responsible. Until the hesitation can be dressed in enough good language that even I struggle to challenge it. That’s what makes it so difficult. My fear rarely says, “I’m afraid.” It says, “Be sensible.” And I listen. But I’m starting to notice how much life can be lost to elegant hesitation. And I don’t want to lose as much as I already have.
