I keep expecting my body to keep up with my denial
Dear Delyara, That feels like one of the most honest sentences I can write right now. I downplay. Delay. Normalize. Translate discomfort into tiredness and tiredness into inconvenience and inconvenience into something that can wait until a more convenient version of me exists to deal with it. And still, I expect my body to keep functioning like it has not been ignored. Bodies are less obedient than denial. That is the lesson I keep relearning. I wish I had learned it more gently.
