The PlotFear of Failure

I keep making plans I can admire instead of moves that would expose me

Dear Delyara, I am very good at plans. Beautiful plans, sensible plans, serious plans, practical plans. Plans that make me feel like someone who is moving toward something meaningful while allowing me to remain untouched by the raw embarrassment of actually being seen trying. That is the part I am beginning to mistrust in myself. Planning can be real work, yes. It can also be a polished waiting room where fear looks responsible enough that no one, including me, calls it what it is. I know why I do it. Exposure is expensive. Wanting something openly is expensive. Failure with witnesses is expensive. Still, life cannot be built entirely out of admirable preparation. At some point, the skin has to show.
