I keep treating the body like it should wait politely

Dear Delyara, That is one of the habits I’m ashamed of. I keep expecting my body to wait. To wait until I’m done, less busy, less needed, more available, more emotionally ready to pay attention. I expect pain to remain manageable, exhaustion to stay quiet, tension to not escalate, the nervous system to keep behaving as if nothing is being asked of it that exceeds its limits. Bodies do not work that way forever. I know this. I still live against it too often. That is the part I’m trying to change now.
