I keep wanting the kind of closeness that doesn’t need a warm-up period

Dear Delyara, Not because I’m impatient. Because I’m tired. I think some of the loneliness I feel now is a longing for immediacy of understanding. Not total understanding — just enough that I don’t have to build the entire bridge before care can cross it. Enough that I can begin in the middle and still be met. That kind of closeness feels rarer the older I get. And I miss it more sharply than I say.
