I Laughed and Meant It

Dear Delyara, I actually laughed today. Not politely. Not automatically. Not the kind of laugh that belongs to conversation more than to feeling. A real one. It surprised me enough that I noticed it. I think that says something about the year I’ve had, that genuine laughter can still feel like a small emotional event. But I’m choosing to take it as good news. Something in me is still reachable. Still alive enough to react honestly. Still able to forget itself for a second. That matters.
