My Diary
I lay in bed and noticed my shoulders were still holding up the whole day
Dear Delyara, The lights were off. The house was quiet. Everybody had gone where they were meant to go. My shoulders had not. They were still carrying work, money, children, one awkward conversation, one unspoken resentment, one doctor’s appointment I still haven’t booked, one fear about the future I keep trying to reduce into manageable language. The day had ended everywhere except in my body. That is such a plain sentence. It still feels like the truest thing I know about this phase of life.
