My Diary
I Left the Spoon in the Sink
Dear Delyara, I know this sounds absurd. But leaving one spoon felt like a line in the sand. A tiny quiet declaration that the evening was over for me even if the kitchen still had opinions about it. I walked upstairs and the guilt came halfway up. Then relief. Then guilt again. It is exhausting, the way women are trained to feel morally measured by how far into the sink they are willing to go before they stop. Tonight, I stopped at one spoon. And it felt like a revolution small enough to fit in cutlery.
