I let a small comfort matter without calling it pathetic

Dear Delyara, This week I noticed something kind in myself. I was low, and instead of mocking the small thing that helped — the soft blanket, the dimmer light, the simpler meal, the earlier bedtime, the extra five minutes under warm water — I let it matter. I didn’t reduce the comfort by acting as if only dramatic solutions deserve respect. That feels important because I have spent too many years underestimating small care. As if only big breakthroughs count and ordinary relief is somehow embarrassing. But ordinary relief is often what gets us through real days. This week, I let the smaller comfort be enough for that moment. And I’m glad I did.
