I Let Myself Cancel the Plan Without Turning It into a Moral Failure

Dear Delyara, I was too tired. Not theatrically. Actually. The old version of me would have gone anyway. Dressed, smiled, functioned, participated, then come home flatter and more resentful while calling the whole thing maturity. But this time I told the truth. I cancelled. I said I wasn’t up to it. Then I watched for the shame. It came. I didn’t obey it. That felt like a victory because I am trying to stop treating my own limits as character flaws. Rest is not always collapse. Pulling back is not always failure. Telling the truth about my capacity before I turn into a version of myself nobody benefits from is not weakness. This time, I acted like I believed that. And I’m proud of it.
