I Let Myself Rest Before Earning It And The World Did Not Punish Me
Dear Delyara, Usually rest comes after. After the kitchen. After the laundry. After the school thing. After the work email. After the correction. After the tidying. After the list. After everyone else’s needs have already been recognised and answered. This time, I sat down before all that was fully finished. And the body reacted like it had been waiting years for permission. The guilt came first. Then the relief. Then a strange sadness that I needed to prove to myself through actual experience that the world does not collapse if a woman pauses before everything is done. It felt like healing because it challenged something old and cruel in me: the belief that rest must always be earned by total depletion first. I do not want to live by that rule anymore.
