I let the care count even though the form still wasn’t the form I wished for
Dear Delyara, That felt like emotional adulthood in a quiet, real way. The concern came imperfectly. Still, I let it count. I didn’t spend the whole evening arguing with the delivery in my head. I didn’t demand a different emotional language before I allowed myself to feel touched by what was actually present. I could hear the love inside the awkwardness. That doesn’t erase old grief. But it does mean old grief no longer takes the whole room every single time. I’m grateful for that widening.
