I Let the Sky Interrupt Me

Dear Delyara, I was carrying washing in, already halfway mentally inside tomorrow, when I looked up and saw the evening light spread across the clouds in that quiet impossible way sky sometimes does. And I stopped. Not because I had time. Because I needed interruption from my own thoughts. I think that’s what beauty is doing for me now. Not decorating life. Interrupting its emotional momentum long enough for me to return to the present. That sky did that. For less than a minute. Still, it changed my whole nervous system for the next ten. Some mercies are brief. That does not make them small.
