I Looked at Myself More Kindly

Dear Delyara, I caught my reflection today and did not immediately begin correcting. Not my face. Not my body. Not my posture. Not my life. For a few seconds I just looked. That may not sound like self-esteem to someone else, but for someone who has spent years turning herself into a project, neutrality can feel revolutionary. I don’t need to worship myself every day. I just want to stop abandoning myself internally every time I am seen. Today I did that. That is enough for now.
