My Diary
I Looked at the Calendar and Felt Next Week Enter My Body Too Early
Dear Delyara, There it was in squares. Work. School. A bill. An appointment. A forgotten errand. One family thing. One thing I wanted to cancel but probably wouldn’t. One child’s club. One conversation I know I need to have and do not want to. Each item alone was manageable. Together, it felt like a wall. I think this is one of the problems with modern adult life. It can look completely normal and still be structurally unkind. Too much compression. Too much access. Too many little obligations stacked tightly enough that a woman’s nervous system begins reacting to the week in advance before the week has even arrived. I closed the calendar and could still feel it. That is the problem. The mind shuts. The body keeps reading.
