I looked at the fruit bowl and realised nothing in it was for me

Dear Delyara, Apples for the children. Bananas for lunchboxes. Grapes if they’re cheap enough. Oranges because one child is suddenly obsessed with them. I stood there and realised I hadn’t chosen a single thing because I actually wanted it. That sounds so small. It still made me feel seen by my own sadness. I think a lot of women disappear from family life that way — not all at once, but choice by choice.
