I’m frightened this might be what adulthood feels like now

Dear Delyara, Too much contact. Too little softness. Money in the background. Phones everywhere. Tiredness normalised. Everyone functioning. No one really resting. A whole generation calling survival “busy” and moving on. Some days I look at my life and think, is this it? Not the external details. The feeling of it. I am frightened of how adaptable human beings are. How much we can quietly get used to while still hurting. How easy it becomes to call something normal just because it is repeated enough. That frightens me more than the hard days themselves. The possibility of calling them a lifestyle.
