I’m scared some of my goals are still alive only because I’m ashamed to drop them

Dear Delyara, Not because I’m lazy. Because I’m honest enough to wonder whether the remaining force behind some goals is love, or pride, or fear of seeming inconsistent, or grief at how much of myself I already invested in the story of reaching them. I don’t think we talk enough about the shame of changing direction. It can keep people carrying goals long after the energy underneath them has altered beyond recognition.
