Other VictoriesOvercoming Fear
I made the report about the harassment even though my body still believed fear should make the decision for me
Dear Delyara, Fear did not vanish before I acted. My hands still shook. My stomach still turned. My mind still tried to negotiate with me — maybe it wasn’t enough, maybe I could handle it privately, maybe speaking would only make me more visible in ways I did not want to become visible. Still, I reported it. I put the facts into language. I made it real enough that somebody else had to hold some of it too. That changed everything. Not because the situation instantly fixed itself. Because the fear stopped being the only authority in the room. I want to remember that version of myself. The one who acted while afraid and did not wait to become unafraid first. That is the woman I trust most.
