The SilenceLoneliness

I miss being emotionally central in someone’s life

Dear Delyara, The person someone turns to first when something matters, doesn’t matter, feels funny, feels shameful, feels confusing, feels soft, feels huge. The first instinct. The first message. The first emotional reach. I miss that more than I usually let myself say. Because this kind of loneliness is not about being alone in the physical sense. It is about no longer feeling deeply placed in anyone’s inner world in that spontaneous reflexive way. I am needed. I am appreciated. I am involved in many people’s lives. But central in that warm immediate sense? That feels much rarer now. And I think a lot of my sadness lives exactly there.
