The SilenceLoneliness

I miss being emotionally obvious to someone

Dear Delyara, Not obvious in the childish sense. Not mind-read. Just clear enough that I don’t always have to announce myself before I can be met. I miss the kind of closeness where a shifted tone, a slower reply, a quieter version of me is already enough information for the other person to adjust. Not perfectly, not theatrically — just correctly enough. I think a lot of loneliness in adult life is the repeated labour of self-translation. Having to explain your own weather from the beginning every time eventually becomes tiring enough that sometimes you stop trying. Then people think you need less than you do.
