The SilenceLoneliness

I miss being known by someone who notices the little shifts

Dear Delyara, Not the dramatic ones. The little ones. The slightly flatter voice. The slower answer. The joke I don’t make. The way I move around a room when something has unsettled me. I miss company that can register those things without making me turn them into a formal statement. I’m tired of having to announce my own emotional weather in proper language before care becomes possible. There is such intimacy in being read gently and correctly before explanation begins. I had that once in certain friendships, maybe in certain older versions of love too, and I miss it more as life gets busier and more people seem content with surface. This is why I can feel lonely in a perfectly full week. Because fullness is not the same thing as being noticed.
