The BondMarriage
I miss being wanted for no reason
Dear Delyara, Not needed. Wanted. There is such a difference. Needed means dinner, schedules, kids, logistics, timing, bills, errands, reminders, practical partnership. And yes, all of that matters. But I miss being wanted without utility attached to it. Wanted in a way that says, “Come here,” not “Can you handle this?” My marriage isn’t falling apart. That’s what makes this harder to say. From the outside, it’s fine enough. Stable enough. Adult enough. But there are nights when I would trade half the efficiency in our house for one unprompted moment of warmth that had nothing to do with management. I’m starving in that way more than I let myself admit.
