The PlotLost Ambition

I miss wanting things before fear started reviewing every desire like an application panel

Dear Delyara, It used to feel cleaner. I could want something and move toward it with fewer inner witnesses. Now every desire enters a room full of internal objections. Cost. Timing. Energy. Family impact. Probability. Embarrassment. Age. The risk of failing visibly. The possibility that I am already too tired to become the person this dream would require. No wonder ambition now feels heavier than it used to. I don’t think I’ve lost the hunger completely. I think the hunger has become frightened of its own exposure. That is what disappointment does over time. It doesn’t always kill desire. It teaches desire to apologise for itself before it even speaks. That is what I want back most: not only ambition, but innocence around it.
