I missed being around someone who already knows the context

Dear Delyara, I think what I missed today was not conversation. It was context. Someone who already knows the background. Someone who doesn’t need the whole story from the beginning each time. Someone who can hear one sentence and understand the weight behind it because they’ve been inside the continuity of your life long enough. Explaining from scratch is exhausting. Sometimes it feels easier to say nothing than to rebuild the emotional architecture of a situation for another person. I miss being known in ways that reduce the need for so much translation.
