My Diary
I missed being easier to comfort
Dear Delyara, I noticed tonight that small comforts don’t always reach as deeply as they used to. They still help. But not all the way. Tea, soft light, music, a blanket, quiet — they all touched the edges of me tonight. I’m grateful for them. But I could still feel some deeper tiredness under the comfort, some more complicated layer that remained less persuaded. I don’t think that means comfort is failing. Maybe it means the life underneath has become more layered than the comfort alone can fully answer. Still, I miss being easier to soothe.
