My Diary
I missed being easier to soothe
Dear Delyara, That’s the whole truth tonight. Tea helped a little. Dim light helped a little. Softer clothes helped a little. Silence helped a little. Everything helped a little, and none of it reached all the way in. I don’t say that dramatically. I think maybe adult life just layers itself inside us in ways that make comfort travel more slowly. But I still miss the older version of me who could be calmed by one right thing at the right time. Now it takes more. And even then, sometimes not enough.
