My Diary
I nearly cried because I was finally alone
Dear Delyara, I think the tears tonight were partly relief. The day was full in the wrong way — too many voices, too much pace, too much being present. Nothing dramatic, just that constant sense of other people reaching into the edges of me all day for something. When I finally got home and shut the door, I felt that sudden private drop. The body letting go. The face changing. The room becoming mine again. And then I almost cried. Maybe sometimes we don’t cry because something terrible happened. Maybe we cry because for the first time all day, no one is watching.
