My Diary

I nearly cried because the lamp light was kinder than the overhead light

Dear Delyara, I turned the main light off, switched the lamp on, and felt immediate relief so strong it almost broke me. Not because I am fragile. Because I had been too exposed all day — to brightness, to expectation, to public tone, to digital reachability, to the fluorescent practicalness of life. The lamp did not fix the day. It simply stopped hurting me the same way the overhead light did. Sometimes that is enough to make the body feel suddenly understood.
