My Diary

I nearly cried because the room was finally tidy

Dear Delyara, I cleaned my room tonight and felt unexpectedly emotional when I finished. It wasn’t really about the room. It was about what the room represented. I think sometimes when life feels messy in ways I can’t immediately fix — emotionally, financially, relationally, internally — I become hungry for one visible sign that disorder can still become calm if I touch it with enough patience. The room looked peaceful. I didn’t, exactly. But something in me softened anyway. Maybe that’s why people clean when they’re overwhelmed. Not because cleaning solves anything big. Because it proves that some things can still be changed by care.
