My Diary

I nearly cried because the supermarket had my favourite yoghurt on offer

Dear Delyara, It embarrassed me how much relief I felt. The cheaper week had already started in my head before I even got there. I was doing the usual arithmetic while walking down the aisles, cutting things mentally before they reached the trolley. Then I saw the offer sticker on the yoghurt I actually like and felt this ridiculous, private little wave of comfort. I bought it without a debate. I think pressure does that. It shrinks life until tiny permissions start feeling emotional. Not luxury. Just one thing that tastes like your own preference rather than management. One thing that says you are still in the room too. I ate one after dinner and made a point of tasting it properly.
