My Diary
I nearly cried in the supermarket
Dear Delyara, I nearly cried in the supermarket tonight because I was tired and one small thing felt like too much. Nothing major happened. A queue. A delay. Someone standing too close. A cashier who looked exhausted. Bright lights. Too many choices. My basket heavier than it should have felt. And suddenly I had that awful sensation that if one more person spoke to me, I might cry in public over absolutely nothing and everything at the same time. I held it together. Came home. Put the shopping away slowly. Now that I’m here, I think the tears weren’t really about the supermarket. They were just waiting for a place to arrive.
