I nearly cried over a broken lunchbox lid
Dear Delyara, Not because the lunchbox mattered so much. Because it was one more tiny practical failure on top of a day already made of tiny practical failures. The lid cracked in my hand while I was trying to pack leftovers for tomorrow. My daughter needs one for school, the shops were already shut, and my head immediately started doing what it always does: what can I swap, what will still seal properly, do we have another one, why didn’t I notice we were running out, why does everything break at the wrong moment? I know a lunchbox is a ridiculous reason to feel emotional. Still, the feeling came. Sometimes what actually breaks you for thirty seconds is not the object. It’s the timing. It’s the fact that you were already full, and now one more thing is asking to be solved by the same tired brain.
