My Diary
I nearly cried when the house got quiet
Dear Delyara, The evening was fine. Then the house got quiet. Then I nearly cried. Nothing happened in between. I think this is the part of life that is hard to explain to people who haven’t felt it: silence does not always feel peaceful. Sometimes it feels like the moment the emotional backlog finally catches up. The second the day stops making demands, all the deferred feelings line up at the door. Tonight I could feel them arriving. Tiredness. loneliness. some old sadness. some fear about the future. all of it, not huge enough to make a scene, just full enough to change the room. I made tea and waited for the feeling to pass through without naming all of it. Maybe that was enough.
