My Diary

I nearly reached for an old habit

Dear Delyara, It wasn’t even a dramatic night. That’s what made it harder. Quiet nights are dangerous in a different way because they leave enough room for old habits to begin sounding kind. Not because I want destruction. Because I want interruption. Distance. Less feeling for a while. I didn’t follow the urge. Still, I sat with it long enough to feel how alive old patterns can remain even after you’ve built distance from them. That was humbling. Growth is often far less glamorous than people think. Sometimes it is just not doing the familiar harmful thing while no one sees you choosing otherwise.
