My Diary

I nearly took the wrong trolley home in my head

Dear Delyara, I was so mentally full in the car park that for a second I looked at a stranger’s trolley like it had some connection to me. My mind was half with the shopping, half with the children, half with the bill, half with tomorrow, and apparently doing maths like that is now just normal in my life. The embarrassment of those little brain slips is hard to explain. Because they are so small and so revealing at the same time. No one else saw. I did. And it sat in me for far longer than the moment deserved.
