My Diary

I nearly turned the whole evening into catch-up

Dear Delyara, I saw the old pattern start. The list in my head. The pressure to use the evening well. To fix, answer, tidy, improve, recover, plan, and prove that I’m still in control of things before tomorrow arrives. It almost happened automatically. Then I stopped. Not because everything was done. Because I could feel how punishing the evening was about to become if I let “catching up” replace resting again. So I left some things unfinished. That made me anxious for a little while. Then it made me calmer. I think I’m learning something there.
