My Diary
I needed something ordinary to go well
Dear Delyara, I think that’s why making dinner mattered more than it should have tonight. Nothing special happened. It just went well. I made something simple, it tasted decent, nothing spilled, nothing interrupted, I ate while it was still warm, and for those twenty minutes life did not ask me to carry anything extra. I needed that ordinariness. Needed one domestic moment that didn’t turn symbolic, difficult, or emotionally loaded. Sometimes healing is not grand. Sometimes it is one ordinary thing not becoming harder than it has to.
