I noticed care where I once noticed only awkwardness

Dear Delyara, That feels like growth in me. A parent said something recently in a way that once would have only irritated me. This time I could hear the concern beneath it first. Not because they changed completely. Because my hearing widened enough to catch more than one truth at once. It’s still not the exact emotional language I wish had been available. But it was care. And I could feel it. Sometimes gratitude arrives not through new behavior, but through a more generous way of seeing what was already there.
